Personal Information:

Lillis Logee was probably born about 1788 in Glocester, Rhode Island2. She was the daughter of Aaron and Susanna (Herendeen) Logee. Lillis married Marvin Brown of Oxford, Massachusetts. Their marriage intention was recorded in Oxford on 19 Mar 1807 as: "Marvin Brown of Oxford South Gore and Lilas Loger of Burrillville, R.I.3" Marvin was born in 1785 in Dudley, Massachusetts, the son of Philip and Lois Brown of Oxford South Gore4.

The 1810 federal census listed a Maran Brown in Oxford, age 16-26 with 2 females 1 under age 10 and 1 age 16-265. This household was adjoining Phillip Brown and Josiah/Jacob Brown with a James Brown just two households away. On 18 Nov 1816 Elisha Logee, Lillis' brother, sold his land in Burrillville to Marvin Brown of Oxford for $2106. This was followed by a deed transferring ownership of the property to Aaron Logee7. In 1819 Lillis was listed in Aaron Logee's will as Lilis w/o Marial Brown8. However, all other documents clearly listed her husband as Marvin Brown.

Years later, in a separate transaction on 3 Jun 1830, Marvin and Lillis Brown of Oxford sold a 1 acre lot in Burrillville to Elisha Knight of Thompson, Connecticut9. That property was partially described as: "land that was the home of Washington Logee." It was further described as adjoining the lands of Elisha Logee and Lydia Pollock which was given to her [Lillis] by her father. The 1830 federal census in Oxford listed 5 males and 6 females in the Marvin Brown household10. Though only one child has been linked to this family group, the census records indicated a strong probability that Marvin and Lillis had several children.

In the 1840 census a Marvin Brown was listed in Webster, Worcester Co., Massachusetts on a property adjoining a Samuel Brown11. The move of the family to Webster would be consistent with information on their son Philip. The record was also consistent with the 1830 census record. Lillis died on 22 Feb 1840 in Webster12.The final record found for Marvin Brown was a 1850 census record in Dudley, Worcester Co., Massachusetts13. It listed Marvin Brown age 65 and Anna age 51. If that record was for Marvin Brown, "of Oxford," Lillis must have died prior to 1850. Also, it would seem that Marvin Brown went full circle, returning to the Town of Dudley where he was born.
