Benjamin McElwee "Mack" Taylor was born 23 May 1864 in Fountain County, Indiana1. He was the son of William Smith Taylor and Mary Campbell.

On 18 Mar 1888 he married Ada Thompson in Longview, Illinois. They had 2 sons, Ervie and James. Both their sons were born in Illinois. In 1900 the family resided in Newman twp., Douglas county, Illinois. Benjamin made his living as a farmer. By 1910 they had moved to Wayne twp. in Montgomery County, Indiana. Mack and Ada remained in the Waynetown area for the rest of their lives.

On 23 Jan 1949, less than a year after his son Ervie died, Mack passed away. He died at his home in Waynetown. Ada survived until 14 Jul 1962 when she died in Crawfordsville, Montgomery Co., Ind.4 Listed among the survivors in her obituary were 2 brothers, Joe and Russell Thompson of Illinois. Mack and Ada were buried in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.

  1. Ervie Taylor b. 9 Apr 1889 Illinois5; d. 18 Apr 1948; buried Oak Hill Cemetery. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWI and was a member of the American Legion. He married Grace Miller6. She b. 16 Jun 1892 d/o Marion and Clara Eller Miller. She d. 5 Jun 1976. Her obituary mentioned one surviving brother, Ben Miller. They had lived on College St. in Crawfordsville. Both were buried in Oak Hill Cemetery. This couple had no children.

  2. James Taylor b. 1 Oct 1892 in Douglas County, Illinois7. In 1916 his occupation was timekeeper and he resided in Indianapolis. On 8 Sep 1916 he married Jennie Marshall Elder. She was born 27 Feb 1897 in Indianapolis and was the d/o Wm. R. Elder and Ellen Bowman. This couple had no children
