John M. Campbell was born 31 Jul 1837 the son of Bake and Catherine (Mellinger) Campbell1. Following the death of his father, John was placed under the guardianship of Joseph Glascock2. John was released from guardianship on 10 jan 1857 and received $94.57 as his portion of the estate. On 15 Mar 1862 he married Mary F. Foxworthy in Fountain County, Indiana3. She was born on 11 Sep 1841 in Kentucky and was the daughter of Alexander and Nancy (Glascock) Foxworthy4.
In 1880 the Federal Census listed a Mary M., niece, age 5, residing
in their household. John and Mary had no children. John died 3 Mar 18994.
The cause of death was tuburculosis. Mary married 2nd to William Peveler
and divorced him abt. 19125. She was a member of the
Coal Springs church from 1854 until her death. She died on 26 Jun 1913
from tuberculosis of the spine. John and Mary were buried in Waynetown
Masonic Cemetery. The grave of a Herbert Crane (1873-1908) appears
to be in the same "family plot" but no family connection has been made.
