Benedict who settled in Lancaster Co, Penn was probably the same Benedict Mellinger who arrived on the ship St. Andrews from Rotterdam, last from Plymouth with 400 passengers (names for only 116) on 9 Sep 1749. (Johannes Mellinger on same ship) [Rupp, 30,000 Names of Immigrants, (Baltimore, Md, Genealogical Publishing Co., 1965) pgs 196/197]

Benedict Mellinger purchased land from Andreas Krist in Manor twp, exec. 13 Jun 1764, rec. 11 Aug 1764. Described boundaries in part as: land late of Michael Birler, land late of Walrich Shaleberger, late of Peter Shaleberger. [Family History Library microfilm #0021385, Lancaster County, Penn. 1770 Tax Rolls - Benedick Mellinger year 71 place Warwick twp. [Hawbaker & Groff, A New Index Lanc. Co, Penn. before Federal Census - Vol 5, Index to the 1770 Tax Records]

1780 Tax Rolls - Benedict Mellinger year 80 place Manor twp. class T landed [Hawbaker & Groff, Index 1780 Tax Records, Vol 1 pg 51]

Benedict Mellinger, yeoman, of Manor twp sold land in Warwick twp to Jacob Hostetter (exec. and rec. 27 Sep 1785). Description of property included the following: On 22 Sep 1736 James Logan sold to Christian Hershey in Hempfield twp (now in Warwick twp) - On 4 July 1759 Christian & Barbara Hershey to Maria Hershey - and Maria married Benedict Mellinger and then she died [FHL microfilm # 0021393 Lancaster Co. 1790 Census - (Census pg 141 from Bk) - Manor twp, Lancaster Co., Penn. Benedict Mellinger - Males 2 over 16; Females 3 (4 farms from his record was Jacob Millinger)

On 8 Dec 1794 (rec. 25 Jul 1795) Benedict Mellinger of Manor twp with Christian Baughman of Mansfield twp, Jacob Shallenberger of Mansfield twp, Isaac Kaufman of Manor twp, John Bernhard of Manor twp, Jacob Stehman of Manor twp, Henry Erford of Manor twp, John Hostetter of Manor and Samuel Funk of Manor twp. purchased Richland Island from Thomas Boude and Amelia, his wife of Hempfield.[FHL microfilm # 0021402 Land Records Vol WW pgs 372-377]

Benedict Mellinger executed will on 17 Sep 1794 and the will was probated on 9 May 1795. Beneficiaries were children David, Christian, John and Feronica, wife of Jacob Ebersole. Executors were sons, David and John Mellinger of Manor twp.[Historical Society of Penn.; Abstracts of Lancaster County, Penn. Wills 1786-1820; Family Line Pub. 2000] Another reference to will was Will Bk G-1-397. In Will gave bequests of 1/4 to son Christian; 1/4 to son John; 1/4 to dau. Feronica w/o Jacob Ebersole; to David my plantation of 222 acres valued at 1300 pounds to pay back at rate of 50 pounds per year.

Died: aft 1795 (Listed in father's will as Feronica, wife of Jacob Eberly)
Married: Jacob Ebersole bef. 1795. I have chosen this daughter as wife of Jacob Ebersole due soley to the very similar spelling of the two daughters names and the probability that the first daughter died as a child. That assumption may need revision if other evidence is found.
 

4. David Mellinger

Died: 4 May 1850 aged 89y 5m 3d; buried Haebecker Mennonite Cemetery [Oeberberich Collection; Reel 2 Sec 2 pg 141] (transcription included information on his son, Christian, and Christian's family)
