The Timeline shown below, proves that at least 7 and possibly 8 of the Mellingers who resided in Lancaster County between 1746 and 1771 could not have been parent and child. It must also be noted that only Benedict, Joseph and Jacob maintained a consistent Tax Record. John, William, David and Christoph probably died or left the county. Benjamin appeared very late in the records and is the only individual who could possibly be a child of one of the other Mellingers listed. The David listed as a freeman in 1769 is almost certainly not the same David in 1755/56. This second David, like Benjamin could be a child of one of the other Mellingers listed, including the David of 1755/56.
Finally, the Un-named Mellinger, could be the ancestor of some 8 listed Mellingers.
